An unsung Chelsea hero. If you like Indian food, this place’s number should go straight into your iPhone. The Heron is unpretentious yet sophisticated, with tony whitewashed walls and hardwood floors. It serves up fragrant curries and a cracking goat biryani. Chef Yogesh Datta knows exactly what to do with game birds in season. The smiling staff occasionally struggle with their English but never with their welcome or innate hospitality. A recently opened sister restaurant, Bangalore Express, is located at 103–105 Waterloo Road, SE1, and there’s another opening planned for later this year in the City. |
