you are here: 2009 spa guideAbama
Once you’ve got over the embarrassment of telling your friends that you’re off to Tenerife you can relax into a state of smug satisfaction. For starters, it’s easy-peasy to get to. And while everybody else is tucking into crumpets you can be swimming in the sunshine, feasting on Japanese food as good as Nobu’s and, best of all, melting like a marshmallow in the spa. The Abama is Tenerife gone glam. Yes, it’s a big hotel, but bring the little ones (there’s a kids’ club) and stay in one of the smart two-bedroom villas. Then you can drift to the spa for everything from flotation therapies and Samunprai massages (using steamed herbal poultices) to a wonderful ‘water circuit’ with hammams, plunge pools, rain showers, a Kneipp walk (it’s all about circulation) and a can’t-help-but-scream snow cabin – the ultimate chill-out.
